WGH Partners with Evansville Surgical Associates to Welcome Three New General Surgeons

July 23, 2024 (Mt. Carmel, Illinois) –Wabash General Hospital (WGH) is honored to announce the partnership with Evansville Surgical Associates (ESA) for the addition of three new general surgeons: Drs. Katharine Lasher, Samir Gupta, and Deane Smith. In the coming months, these surgeons, in conjunction with Dr. Bruce Adye and Taloni Ginder, PA-C, will begin serving the patients of Wabash and surrounding counties.

Dr. Katharine Lasher completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Southern Indiana, medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine, and residency at East Tennessee State University. She is originally from Evansville and is excited to begin her full-time practice in Mt. Carmel. There, she will focus on general surgery while also providing gastrointestinal scopes, EGDs, and breast services.

Dr. Samir Gupta completed his undergraduate degree and medical school at the University of Chicago and his residency at Butterworth Hospital. He is Board-Certified by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Gupta joined Evansville Surgical Associates in 2021 and in conjunction with Dr. Smith, will be focusing on preventative gastrointestinal scopes and EGDs at Wabash General.

Dr. Deane Smith completed his undergraduate degree at Saint Vincent College, medical school at Pennsylvania State University, and residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Wright State University, and Wright-Patterson Medical Center. He is Board-Certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Smith recently joined Evansville Surgical Associates in 2024 and in conjunction with Dr. Gupta, will be focusing on preventative gastrointestinal scopes and EGDs at Wabash General.
