This Summary of Benefits is intended to provide a brief explanation of each unique benefit available to full-time and part-time hourly employees of the hospital. Full-time hourly employees earn all benefits as described below. Benefits for part-time hourly employees may differ. Some are prorated for part-time. Some are unavailable to part-time. Detailed explanations of employee benefits are provided in the Employee Handbook and the WGH Policy and Procedure Manual available from your supervisor or the Personnel Department.
Employees earn vacation based on the amount of time spent on the job. Full-time hourly employees earn 12 vacation days during each of their first six years of employment; 15 days during years seven through eleven; 17 days during years twelve through sixteen; 22 days during years seventeen through twenty-one; and 27 days during all years beyond twenty-one. The WGH Employee Handbook gives details for vacation accrual for part-time employees.
Full-time employees earn 12 paid sick leave days per year. Employees may accumulate up to 65 days of paid sick leave.
Full-time employees enjoy 6 paid holidays annually: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Full-time employees may request unpaid time away from scheduled work. Types of leave which may be granted include: family or medical leave, military leave, bereavement leave, school visit leave, educational leave, voting leave, and personal leave.
Health insurance is available to employees and their families on a cost shared basis. Employee share of health insurance premiums are paid by payroll deduction.
Dental insurance is available to employees and their families on a cost shared basis. Employee's share of dental insurance premiums are paid by payroll deduction.
Full-time employees may purchase LTD insurance through the hospital's group plan.
Employees may pay their share of medical expenses; premiums for health, dental, and long-term disability insurance; and dependent care expenses with pre-taxed dollars through the Flexible Spending Plan. This affords the employee an income tax savings and an increase in take home pay.
All employees are insured through the hospital's professional liability insurance plan.
Full-time employees are provided one times salary in life insurance with a minimum of $20,000. Additional employee provided insurance may be purchased up to five times salary.
Full-time and part-time employees may purchase universal life insurance products for themselves and family members. Premiums are paid through payroll deduction.
After one year of employment and 21 years of age, the employee's defined contribution account begins with a basic hospital contribution equal to 1% of employee's earnings. Each employee contributes a minimum of 1% to the account. The hospital matches employee contributions up to a total of 3% of gross earnings. Employees may contribute up to 25% of pre-taxed earnings into their own retirement accounts. Contributions are subject to statutory limits.
The hospital will provide up to $1000 per calendar year in educational benefits. This benefit is intended to help pay for tuition, books, and lab costs for college level classes. Classes must be job related.
Employees and families are provided a 20% discount on most hospital services provided by WGH. Employees receive a 35% discount on meals purchased in the cafeteria.
Employees injured while at work are covered under the workers compensation benefit. Benefits include compensation for time lost from work and cost of related medical expenses.
Employees, who become out of work through no fault of their own, may be eligible for unemployment benefits.
