October 21 Medical Office Building Updates

Work will begin under the canopy next Tuesday in front of the hospital.

The cafeteria is still in the demo phase, and the flooring is being removed. The cooler and freezer is scheduled to be delivered November 8th.

The parking lots should be completed by the end of next week.

Glass should be completely installed next week in the new Medical Office Building. In the next two weeks, the canopy will be brought in to be set.

The curb for the new parking lot is being poured at the orthopaedic building. The EIFS work is complete.

Work in radiology will be complete next week. The main lobby renovation will start in the middle of November.

October 14 Medical Office Building Updates

- Cafeteria renovations are in full swing! Work has begun on the underground piping.
- The new freezer and cooler is scheduled to be delivered in November. Over the next two weeks, wall framing will continue as well as installation of the windows.

- Rough ins, drywall, glass and glazing work continues.
- Ceiling work should start next week in Tact 1.
- Drywall will be hung in Tact 5.
- The rooftop units were delivered today.
- The generator and transformer should be installed late next week, weather permitting.

- Drywall taping continues.
- 75% of the building is primed and the first coat of paint is complete.
- Lights are being installed.
- EIFS started last week and should be completed next week. Windows will also be installed by the end of next week. All work is weather dependent.
- Plant Operations will be moving furniture out of the breakroom this week, and construction will begin on Monday, October 18.
- Work continues on the physician parking lot and old MRI parking lot area.
- Asphalt should be completed by the end of the month.
- Case work is in the process of being installed in Radiology.
- Flooring installation started this week.
- The new equipment is scheduled to be delivered early November.

October 7 Medical Office Building Updates

The Medical Office Building has the roof on and the windows are being installed. Painting in Tact 1 will begin next week. In Tact 5, the construction crew continues to work on framing. By the first of November, they plan to have permanent power in the new building. In mid-November, elevator work will start.

In the cafeteria, demolition is taking place in the freezer and cooler area.
Next week, there will be some work on the main entrance with some of the finishing materials.

Starting next week at Orthopaedics, the EIFS work and installation of windows will begin. On October 18, part of the breakroom will be taken over for construction. The construction crew will also be working on the parking lot towards the end of the month.

Both new parking areas should be completed by the end of the month.

Case work is being set in Radiology and flooring will start next week.

September 30 Medical Office Building Updates

New Medical Office Building
- On the exterior, work continues on the EIFS finishing.
- Curtain wall installation, mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough ins, drywall taping and finishing are all in process.
- Window installation has begun on the side of the new medical office building that faces 13th Street.

Orthopaedic Addition
- All of the drywall taping and finishing should be completed today. Painting began yesterday.
- EIFS work will start on Monday, October 4, and windows are scheduled to be installed the week of October 11.
- The construction team is repairing spots on the exterior where water damage had occurred. Swing by and see the progress if you haven't lately!

The radiology project is on schedule to bring mammography in house in December. Drywall is scheduled to be finished this week, and painting will start on Thursday. The lobby and gift shop renovation will be the next project on the to-do list.

Demolition and saw cutting started in the previous cafeteria area for under slab piping replacement.

September 23 Medical Office Building Updates

The exterior of the new medical office building is scheduled to be completed by the end of October. Thus far, framing and the roof are finished. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins, drywall, glass and glazing have begun. Thank you to Mt Carmel Public Utility for assistance with the new utilities.

Drywall taping at the orthopaedic addition is set to finish this week. The construction crew will soon install windows, start painting and begin ceiling work. On October 18, O'Shea Builders will block off the breakroom to begin construction.

Sequence two has been completed on the current portion of the hospital. The new skylights were set last week, and the materials have not yet arrived to completely finish the front entrance. Sequence three began this week with the demolition of the cafeteria. Containments have been installed outside of the cafeteria. Thanks to the WGH Nutrition Services and Plant Operations Staff for their assistance in moving supplies.

All bathrooms within the hospital are now open.

Taping drywall has begun in the radiology department and is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.

September 16 Medical Office Building Updates

Landscaping was removed around the south side of the existing Ortho building. The construction crew has started demolition of stone wainscot on the south wall to begin the moisture damage repair.

Drywall is being hung at the medical office building.

There will be a brief closure of the main drive-through hospital canopy tomorrow morning. Patients will still be able to use the main doors.

Ultrasound and bone density moved to the current gift shop. These services will stay in that area until the new radiology area is open in December.

The main parking lot is back open.

The Cafeteria will serve its last hot meal this Sunday, September 19. It will be closed for a remodel.

September 9 Medical Office Building Updates

The main patient parking lot in front of the hospital will open Monday morning, but please feel free to continue to use WGH’s shuttle service. Thanks to the volunteers in the WGH Auxiliary for providing this service to our patients and visitors!

The roof on the new medical office building is almost complete, and drywall will be hung in the near future.
Some drywall has been hung in the Orthopaedic addition.

The hospital’s old skylights were removed in preparation for new ones. We hope everyone is excited as we are to see the front of the hospital transform!

The same day surgery waiting room will reopen on Monday.

Work continues in our radiology area to offer mammography services in-house later this year. Thanks to all of our donors and the WGH Foundation for helping make this project possible!

September 2 Medical Office Building Updates

At our new medical office building location, several crews are working hard! Electricians are mounting boxes and conduit. HVAC installers are installing large duct toward the eastern part of the building.

In the interior of the main hospital, electricians are splicing conduit and adding junction boxes at the sewer containment. The former boardroom is being cleaned and tidied up. Lights have been energized also.

Drywall hangers are hanging sheetrock above the ceiling and on interior walls at the orthopaedic addition.

VAC workmen are installing ductwork, and electricians are beginning to pull wire to the addition.

Our kitchen will be closing for a few months for renovations starting September 20. More information will be given closer to time.

August 26 Medical Office Building Updates

The stone layers have completed 40% of the thin stone wainscot at the orthopaedic addition. HVAC installers are running main above-ceiling duct, and the drywaller is in the process of hanging above-ceiling sheetrock. Interior electrical and plumbing rough-ins are 90% complete.

The main parking lot in front of the hospital has been demolished. Approximately 60% of it has been stripped of asphalt and concrete.

At the medical office building, framers, plumbers and electricians have been very busy on both the first and second story construction.

Drain work is still being completed inside the hospital.

August 19 Medical Office Building Updates

Drain work is still being completed on the inside of the hospital.

The roof is planned to be installed next week on the new medical office building.

The main hospital entrance is now open. The stone looks great, so be sure to stop by and see it! Please check-in at the receptionist’s desk upon entering.

The roof on the orthopaedic addition is complete, and drywall will begin next week.

August 12 Medical Office Building Updates

Concrete has been poured on the second floor of the medical office building. In the next two weeks, the perimeter wall framing and sheathing will begin. Roofing is anticipated to begin at the end of August.

Bricklayers are busy designing the front entrance of the hospital. Be sure to swing by and see the finished product soon!

Roofing is beginning soon at the Orthopaedic addition. This will allow interior work to commence.

Drain work is still in progress around the interior of the hospital. Please be patient, follow our signage and do not hesitate to ask for directions.

August 5 Medical Office Building Updates

At the Orthopaedic addition, the carpenters are framing interior walls. They're also performing additional framing at all openings, windows and doors to accommodate the exterior finish. Electricians are beginning conduit piping to the new addition.

Superior Concrete poured concrete on the second floor of the new medical office building. The plumbers are installing overhead piping in the western portion of the first floor.

Carpenters are installing plywood wall sheathing and detailing the gypsum board sheathing at the main entrance canopy.

July 29 Medical Office Building Updates

Many updates have taken place on the addition at our Orthopaedic location. The employee parking lot will be available August 9. The roof will be placed on the addition next week. All exterior walls are in place and have been sheathed as well as one interior wall.

Workers are installing light-gauge framing in the position of a sub-fascia at the main entrance canopy.

Drain work is still ongoing inside the hospital. Please continue to look for signs or ask an employee for directions. Don't forget to utilize our shuttle service by calling 618-263-8682.

July 22 Medical Office Building Updates

The roof trusses have been set at the Orthopaedic addition.

The new employee parking lot is complete, and employees are now welcome to park in it.

Chairs, tables, phones and other supplies have been moved in to the new meeting room. A new screen and projector will be installed at a later date.

All of the concrete has been poured on the main floor of the new medical office building, and concrete work on the second floor will begin next week. Roofing will hopefully begin on August 2.

July 15 Medical Office Building Updates

The new temporary front entrance brought about changes, and we appreciate your patience as we work through these together. Please refer to indoor and outdoor signage, seek a parking attendant with any questions and contact the shuttle service for transportation.

Walls are up at the Orthopaedic building, and trusses will be added next week. Be sure to swing by and see the progress!

In preparation for a new "face" of the hospital, the letters that made up "Wabash General Hospital" were demolished this week. Drainage work is also beginning inside the hospital.

July 8 Medical Office Building Updates

Our front entrance will be temporarily closing in the near future.

An exterior wall was placed at the Orthopaedic building.

The new meeting room is taking shape! Cabinets have been installed, and a ceiling will be installed in the near future.

July 1 Medical Office Building Updates

At the new medical office building site, workers are welding bracing to the beams and detailing. A crew is finishing the column and beam framing on the east portion, and the concrete crew has formed the remaining foundation wall for the building.

The new meeting room will be open before long but without flooring. Carpet will be installed at a later date.

Electricians installed under-slab conduit, plumbers are installing waste and vent piping, and the KBC crew has installed storm piping and a catch basin in the parking lot extension at our Orthopaedic & Rehab building.

June 24 Medical Office Building Updates

At the new medical office building site, you will find many steel beams in place! If you haven't been by to check out the progress, you must do so very soon!

Wall framing will begin in the next few weeks at our Orthopaedics & Rehab location. The Superior Concrete crew poured the north, east and west foundation walls and formed the new foundation wall at the existing north wall of our Ortho building.

Drywall work is being completed in the new meeting room space.

June 17 Medical Office Building Updates

Footers were laid and preparation began for tying rebar at the Ortho addition site.

At the new medical office building site, the hoist way was laid and several steel beams have been put in place. This process is moving quick, so be sure to stop by and check it out!

Electric and drywall work has begun in the new meeting space inside the hospital.

June 10 Medical Office Building Updates

The crane will be at the new medical office building site for approximately one month installing steel beams.

Framing and drywall are taking place in the new boardroom/classroom space. A new steel beam has been installed, and the walls have been fire-rated.

June 3 Medical Office Building Updates

The mobile units (MRI, Mammography, etc.) were relocated today.

The canopy above the Administration office was demolished. This entrance will remain closed, as additional construction will begin next week.

It will take six weeks for the steel to be installed at the new medical office building site, and this process started today.

May 27 Medical Office Building Updates

The Kieffer Brothers Crew is excavating the remainder of the MRI drive.

The Kieffer Brothers Crew is also present at the Ortho building, compacting the backfill in lifts.

At the new medical office building site, the concrete crew formed the east foundation wall in preparation for pouring. The elevator hoistway footing has been poured.

Construction is moving along in the new meeting room as well!

May 20 Medical Office Building Updates

The Mount Carmel Public Utility crew has begun trenching the primary service at the north exterior of the hospital. Kieffer Brothers poured the foundation for the new transformers.

The north and west footings have been poured at the Medical Office Building site.

The new meeting room area and cardiac rehab area are officially under construction. Thank you for your patience during this exciting time!

May 13 Medical Office Building Updates

The Kieffer Brothers Crew performed final grading of the aggregate base at the new Medical Office Building site. The concrete crew anticipates to pour footings on Monday, May 17.

The drywall and doorframe in the Payroll Office have been painted.

Dirt work is in full swing at the new mobile unit site.

May 6 Medical Office Building Updates

The footprint site for the new Medical Office Building has been sealed, rolled, tamped, etc. Construction inside the hospital nearest the cafeteria is in full swing including demolishing doors, removing flooring and ceiling tiles. April 29 Medical Office Building Updates

TRI-State Fence has completely enclosed the Medical Office Building site, and the ground has been leveled.
A temporary wall was installed inside the hospital. In the meantime, please use the back hallway behind the cafeteria and ask an employee for directions. Construction is moving along quickly, and we appreciate your patience during this exciting time!

April 15 Medical Office Building Updates

Thanks to Kieffer Bros., the area continues to be cleared each day in preparation for building. They removed a relatively large tree and barricaded the main entrance from 13th Street, and it is temporarily closed. Kieffer Bros. is currently busting the concrete drive using a rubber-tired hammer in preparation to remove the entire concrete drive and curbs. We appreciate your patience during this exciting time!

April 8 Medical Office Building Updates

Wabash General Hospital is excited to announce that construction has started on the newest addition to our facility, our Medical Office Building! Kieffer Brothers Construction, located in Mount Carmel, IL, began the ground work preparation today. Be on the lookout for a fence to be installed as well as a temporary trailer around the construction area. Please be cautious while driving on 13th Street, as heavy equipment will be operating. We appreciate your patience during this exciting time!
